PSA Graphic Displays
Monrovia non-profits and non-commercial events are encouraged to submit Public Service graphic displays. These air on KGEM-TV in between regularly scheduled programming.
TV is very limited in both its picture resolution (quality) and audience attention. Using the format provided by KGEM-TV and the following suggestions you will be sure your announcement is able to assist you in effectively reaching Monrovians.
- IMAGE SIZE. Send us a jpeg file at the highest quality possible. The size of the image should be exactly 640×480 (if you know how to make a 720×480 image with a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9, you may do so). Other sizes will not display well on TV. This is the MAXIMUM quality that a television is able to reproduce.
- SAFE AREAS. Only the middle 80-90% of the image will show on TVs. Use 100% of the image space for any background you may have (color, background photo, etc). Make sure any graphic elements (like small photos, clipart, logos, etc) fall into the middle 90% of the image space. Be sure that all text falls within the middle 80% of the image, or it may get cut off on some TVs!!
- TEXT. Television is not very good at reproducing small text. The *smallest* size still readable is about 24pt. This size is for standard fonts, many decorative fonts need to be even larger to be readable. Be careful about what your text is on top of, good contrast is very important. Remember: Computer screens are much, much crisper than what can be see on TV.
- CONTENT. Be precise and concise. Provide very basic information and then point viewers to ONE or TWO places to find more information such as a phone number, e-mail or website. Cluttered slides with lots of small text will stop viewers from reading. The area code is unnecessary for 626 numbers as it is implied (KGEM-TV ONLY reaches Monrovia!).
- FLIERS. We realize that sending us a copy of a flier is easy, however fliers don’t work on TV and therefore we are unable to post them.
- COPYRIGHT. Please do NOT include material for which you do not have permission.
Community Media of the Foothills reserves the right to reject any submissions which CMF feels do not fulfill the policies, priorities and standards for KGEM-TV.
